In Manage Search I see this subtab labeled Weights. How do weights affect search results?

Basically, the higher the weight entered into a field on this subpage, the greater importance the field's category has in a search. This means that if a value of 1 is entered into the field titled Comments, and a value of 3 is entered into the field titled Topics, when a search is conducted by a user, topics relative to that search will provided as results before comments.
Example: Let's say you search just "Blue"
Some question A has in one of its comments "I like the color blue, too!"
Another question B has a topic of just "Blue."
Question B will appear in the search results before question A due to the differential in each's assigned weight.
