To create a new user extended property, follow these steps:
- From the Users & Groups tab of the Administrator Dashboard , select Extended Propertiesfrom the Manage Users menu of the Users sidebar.
Result: The User Extended Properties pane is displayed.
- Click on the
Create new property link.
Result: The New Extended Property window is displayed with the Main tab pre-selected.
- Enter the required information into the following fields:
- Name
- Label
- WeightNote: For a user extended property, the weights work differently than other instances in AnswerHub. Here, the higher the weight, the higher it will be on the list, and the lower the weight, the lower it will be on the list.
- Select the Content tab.
Result: The Content tab is displayed.
- Click the Type drop-down menu and select the new extended property type from the following:
- Simple text - A field for a single line of text is added to the Question UI.Result: If selected, the Minimum length and Maximum length fields are displayed.
- For Minimum length, enter the minimum characters a user can enter in this field.
- For Maximum length, enter the maximum characters a user can enter in this field.
- Multiline text - A field for multiple lines of text is added to the Question UI.
Result: If selected, the Minimum length and Maximum length fields are displayed.- For Minimum length, enter the minimum characters a user can enter in this field.
- For Maximum length, enter the maximum characters a user can enter in this field.
- Number- A number field is added to the Question UI. Result: If selected, the Minimum length and Maximum length fields are displayed.
- For Minimum length, enter the minimum characters a user can enter in this field.
- For Maximum length, enter the maximum characters a user can enter in this field.
- Date- A date field is added to the Question UI.
- Boolean (true/false) - A Boolean (true or false) checkbox is added to the Question UI.
- Value selection - A single-selection drop-down menu is added to the Question UI.
Result: If selected, the Selections field is displayed.- For Selections, enter the values that user can select in this menu (one value per line).
- Multiple Value selection- A multiple-selection drop-down menu is added to the Question UI.
Result: If selected, the Selections field is displayed.For Selections, enter the values that user can select in this menu (one value per line).
- Simple text - A field for a single line of text is added to the Question UI.Result: If selected, the Minimum length and Maximum length fields are displayed.
- Select the Versioned checkbox to allow users to revert to previous revisions.
- To make the new property required, select the Required checkbox.
- Select the Security tab to specify who can view or modify the extended property.
Result: The Security tab is displayed.
- Click the Permissions to view field drop-down menu and choose from the following.
- Deny- Users cannot view this field.
- Must be logged in- Only users who are logged in can view this field.
- Must have role- Only users with a specific role can view this field.
Result: If selected, a second drop-down menu with a list of all of the permissions for your AnswerHub site is displayed.
- Select the permission that a user must have to view this field by clicking the Permissions to edit field drop-down menu and choose from the following:
- Deny- Users cannot edit this field.
- Must be logged in- Only users who are logged in can view this field.
- Must have role- Only users with a specific role can view this field.
Result: If selected, a second drop-down menu with a list of all of the permissions for your AnswerHub site is displayed. - Select the permission that a user must have to edit this field.
- Click the Ok (
) button.
Result: A green bar that reads Extended property added successfully is displayed at the top of the User Extended Properties pane. The new extended property is enabled and displayed on the table. Its position on the table will be determined by the weight of the property.
